In the shadow...

Yet another fascination with homes, with poverty, simplicity and colors and the vibrancy they bring. this is also about the freedom the maid servants enjoy. In this painting the house wife is deep inside and under the shadow where as the maid servant is sitting on the threshold - comfortable and confidant. The Indian maid servants have this freedom from taboo's and voyeurism of peeping into everyone's lives while the master's like to keep to themselves in the darkness of the shadow's............................

Buddha

15" X 20"

Watercolor on paper

When things go wrong in our life and we encounter difficult situations we tend to regard the situation itself as the problem, but in reality whatever problems we experience come from the side of the mind. If we were to respond to difficult situations with a positive or peaceful mind they would not be problems for us; indeed we may even come to regard them as challenges or opportunities for growth and development. Problems arise only if we respond to difficulties with a negative state of mind. Therefore, if we want to be free from problems we must learn to control our mind.

True Blue

Watercolor on paper
15" X 22"

"All that we are is the result of what we have thought. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him."

'Flowers on stairs'
Watercolor on paper

'With a flower'
I hide myself within my flower,
That wearing on your breast,
You, unsuspecting, wear me too --
And angels know the rest.

I hide myself within my flower,
That, fading from your vase,
You, unsuspecting, feel for me
Almost a loneliness.

Brighten up my life..............

Watercolour on paper
15" X 22"

The daisy follows soft the sun
by
Emily Dickinson

The daisy follows soft the sun,

And when his golden walk is done,
Sits shyly at his feet.
He, waking, finds the flower near.
"Wherefore, marauder, art thou here?"
"Because, sir, love is sweet!"

We are the flower, Thou the sun!
Forgive us, if as days decline,
We nearer steal to Thee, --
Enamoured of the parting west,
The peace, the flight, the amethyst,
Night's possibility!

Modern Opticals in Old Delhi (Watercolors on paper) 15" x 22"
This is about optical dichotomy of an old Delhi street, modernised old Delhi and the Modern Opticals, all the shops are 'Modern Opticals' whatever they might be selling. A once beautiful old building with ornate lamp posts has modernised posts now. All said and done, Old Delhi is full of life and its colors. Delhi carries the sun and the moon, the day and the night and every possible dichotomy in its womb. May  be there lies her beauty and romance.

Into the void...........

Into the void

When you were young
You bore me in your womb
When you brought me to the world
You thought I would share your pain.

The long sleepless nights
The endless days of nurturing
You lived in me
In every breath I took.

How bad you wanted to see me grow
How bad you wanted me to fly
How bad I have grown
The moment I got the wings.
I had flown

How cold are the winds blowing
How lost I am
When I left you alone
Into the void.

School buggies............as my friend calls it!!

These customised rickshaws are used to ferry children to and from school, when I go down to pick my daughter from the bus stop I see so many of these pass by, filled with naughty children who laugh n shriek their way home, also dangle dangerously to look like little daredevils, during the weekends these buggies are chained together next to the wall outside our home, they look forlone and sad without the children....

A hangovered morning

A hangovered morning
may not be as beautiful as the empty bottles
Its the slow paced movement of stars
across the sky with clouds
in the halo of the city
'ts the story of friends
sitting together
sipping together

GOD! Let there be... bounty
of friends
of bottles to empty
AND paint a life!

This old house reminded me of my Granny' house................

I saved this picture of an old broken home from the net, what drew me to it was that it was similar to my granny's house, the window's and especially the ventilators . As kids al the girl's in the family, which included my sister and cousin, used to drape ourselves with mom's dupatta and pretend to be fairies, we would climb up the bars of the window and try to reach up to the ventilator's where our grandmother always kept some coins for us to discover..........

Experimenting with watercolour and charcoal...............

He sit alone on that stone
In thoughts- flying birds in the sky
He sits bare
Wears oblivion for his drape
He sees the stars...
Steps in the vastness of the skies
He belongs to the
Country called eternity
He bathes in the rivers
Of thoughts and dreams

More Flower's........................

Flowers ...........

I was drawn towards painting flowers as they allowed me the freedom to experiment and did not restrict me with lines or space.......

When I started playing with watercolours...........

I made these painting's from the works of 'Milind Mulick' who impressed me a great deal , his attention to detail where necessary and merging the unnecessary with the surroundings was quite impressive......... I loved the auto, the cycle and the STD , those prompted me to attempt to paint it.
